an event triggers an idea; as with the Empty Bowl Project, where potters
are invited to donate soup bowls to be sold to raise funds for local food
agencies. With my bowls, one shares their soup with a hungry person
clinging to the rim. As the soup is finished even the dregs slip away from
the person on the edge. I have made around a hundred of these bowls,
finding meaning each time within this metaphor."
"The piece with the fingerprint pattern on the top is part of a
series I did in contemplation of remembered contour-plowed fields seen
from the air."
